Volo West Africa

Creditinfo established a joint venture (JV) with a company called VoLo Africa to form Creditinfo VoLo Africa. The objective was to work together in West Africa, in the area of credit bureaus, risk management and biometric information. The first operation was opened in Dakar, Senegal in 2014. In January 2015, the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) awarded Creditinfo VoLo the tender to establish a private credit bureau (PCB) within the eight (8) member states of West African Monetary Union (WAMU) covering a region with over 100 million people. The tender required a strategic and technologic investor in order to create, operate and manage a regional private credit reporting system that meets the international standards for all 8 member states. Since then we have opened offices in each country: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. Both organisations are actively involved in steering the future of the business in Africa, bringing structure and strategic direction with the aim of increasing the stability of the African financial system and stimulating investment and financial inclusion, to create an environment in which the African banks can provide the required facilities for all borrowers, ranging from small enterprises and micro enterprises.
